Start your day by delving into South Africa’s apartheid history with a visit to District Six, a powerful reminder of the forced removals during the apartheid era. Next, head to Langa, the oldest township in Southern Africa, where you’ll explore vibrant markets filled with arts, crafts, and local produce.
Visit a traditional healer or hostel to learn about indigenous healing practices and connect with the local community. By noon, make your way to the Nelson Mandela Clock Tower and board the ferry to Robben Island for a tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Nelson Mandela and other political prisoners were held. Gain firsthand insight into South Africa’s journey to freedom. After returning from Robben Island, you can either transfer back to your hotel or opt for an African dinner experience (on request), enjoying the rich flavors of African cuisine while reflecting on the day’s powerful experiences.
